What is Lip Augmentation?

There are a number of cosmetic procedures to enhance the fullness and symmetry of lips in a natural and beautiful way, improving both shape and contour - and with very little downtime.

At Dr Emma Clinics, we offer a range of dermal fillers to clients to achieve soft and gentle rejuvenation.

After the procedure there will be some minimal swelling but this will soon reduce, leaving you to enjoy your subtly enhanced and natural-looking lips.

When should I consider lip augmentation?

Lips reach their maximum volume in young adulthood and then slowly begin to lose their fullness. This is why lip augmentation is a great way of looking and feeling more youthful.

You could consider lip augmentation if:

  • you wish to reshape lips that have become thin with age
  • you wish to add more volume to your lips
  • you are seeking a more defined border around the lips
  • you wish to improve your lips’ symmetry
  • you are looking to eradicate vertical lines or wrinkles
  • If you are looking to eradicate vertical lines or wrinkles.

What are the risks of lip augmentation?

As with any non-surgical procedure, there is always some risk involved with lip-augmentation, including the possibility of an allergic reaction, prolonged swelling and inflammation, lip vascular occlusion and scarring.

At Dr Emma Clinics we will fully discuss the risks and benefits of the different options open to you during your initial consultation to help you make the right decision for you.

Why is a consultation so important?

In choosing to have a procedure with Dr Emma Clinics, we are fully aware that you are giving us your total trust. It is vital therefore to ensure that there is complete clarity and understanding between us.

At Dr Emma Clinics we are passionate about placing safety first at all times. This is why our consultation process is so important as it is at this stage that we will explain what can be achieved for you with lip augmentation and what cannot, as well as going into the risks involved in the procedure and advice on what to do after the treatment.

The consultation also helps us to understand what beauty means to you, and enables us to assess how best to achieve the results you want.

Can a beautician offer lip augmentation?

Lip augmentation is increasingly popular and such procedures are offered at a growing range of establishments. However it is hugely important that you receive injectable treatments from a qualified clinician, particularly because of the risks mentioned above.

Any aesthetic procedure you decide to undergo should take place in a clinical setting and you should make sure the clinician is registered with a regulated body, such as the General Dental Council.

Whether you opt to have treatment with us at Dr Emma Clinics or decide to choose another provider, we strongly urge you to use only clinicians who are trained and experienced in the procedure you are seeking.

Do you use safe filler products?

Dr Emma Clinics stocks all safe & reputable brands of dermal fillers. We are a doctor-led clinic and only endorse brands that we know are safe, tested & result-driven. After a thorough consultation and assement - the brand and type of filler is carefully selected by Dr Emma in order to achieve the desired results.

How soon before my lip fillers start to dissolve?

There is no specific answer for this as it depends on the individual patient. Dermal fillers typically last 9 - 12 months and thereafter, will start to diminish. After this period, we may recommend a maintence dose or we may not. You can have your dermal fillers dissolved in clinic should you wish or if it has been advised.

How can I be assured my lips will look naturally plump and not overdone?

Select a medical practitoner (i.e. Doctor/Dentist who is fully trainied in Aesthetic and has plenty of experience and qualification to support their treatments &dedication to patient safety. Do plenty of research before selecting your Aesthetic Practitioner!
